Last week an amazing successful entrepreneur in Belgium announced he had to close down one of his projects. I think it adorns him that he could say he failed and pointed the finger to himself in the first place.

But he also said that he delegated decisions on growth to someone else and trusted this persons gut feeling and for once did not follow his own. Be aware that!

If one is playing with someone else’s money, the risks they take are always bigger then the risk you would take with your own money. Trust me I know, I have been running a company with someone else’s money years ago but now I play with our money, totally different story, another ball game.

No guts no glory, right? But when you have the guts you also might fail. Be prepared to fail as an entrepreneur, you can not win them all. As in sports I know that to have the glory, you first need to be able to fail. And it is not because you saw the glory you will never fail again.

guts

“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” said Theodore Roosevelt

It is easier to talk yourself out of trying than become vulnerable to failing. But you can’t succeed if you don’t try to accomplish something. But is failure not part of every successful undertaking, is it not the way we learn and grow?

Tragically, most educational systems train children very early that failure is bad, and parents often shame children when they fail. It is no wonder then that many of us just don’t want to make an effort unless we are guaranteed success.

It is the natural tendency of the brain to protect itself from harm. In this case your brain has decided that you will experience less pain by imagining the pain of failure then taking a chance on success. If you find yourself in this trap you need to get out.

You have to change your mind, and think some new thoughts. Or at least that is what I think and believe.

There is only one you. You are unique in all the world. It is your responsibility to allow those things which you are passionate about to begin to point you toward your ultimate destiny.
