The question I ask myself lately is whether female leadership differs from male leadership?
Let me start by sharing my idea that I think we are not born as a leader, we decide to become a leader, we decide to take the responsibility to lead.
At least that is what I think, until someone proves me wrong!
Off course some people have a talent to lead more then others, but the skills you need to have and to work on as a leader is something we all need to learn. And you learn a lot by taking the lead, to dare to lead even if you are not yet sure you are able to do so.
Exploring your own talent is the most beautiful thing you can give to yourself. Your talent should be the air your body and soul need. It is about passion, real passion, the kind of passion that doesn't cost you any energy and on the contrary fills your longues with air, the air you need to survive.
Have you ever felt the fear to loose your life? I did, and I can tell you it is a strange feeling.
A feeling you do not know until you have been there . I think that fear of losing my life gave me that little extra kick I needed to become a leader, a role-model, someone with a dream to make the world a better place (for you and for me and the entire human race :-))
I think leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team or an organization; and it is something dynamic, very exciting, and inspiring.
For me there is a big difference between managers and leaders. Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right.
As an ex ballerina I am convinced that I can do both, do the right thing and do it right. And I am convinced that this is what makes the most inspiring leaders, they lead by example.
Whether they are men or women, I do not think that matters so much, as long as they are true to themselves...
I believe we can save humanity and lead our world to peace, but we will need some strong leaders in that day after tomorrow....
