Today I would like to share my 2 cents on the importance of serendipity in your role as a leader.
I believe we are heading towards different times in leadership, we do not want leaders that always have an answer, we do not believe leaders who always come with a plan, we even doubt leaders with a fixed mindset and a fixed mission. I trust leaders with a vision but I believe those with an agile vision just a little more.
Let’s face it, how many times did your agenda go according to the way you planned? How many times did unforeseen encounters bring new insights, new challenges, new dreams?
For me it is happening all the time. I think it is because I dive into everything with an open mind, aware that I am biased, like we all are, but open to serendipity.
Because you never know what might happen. As a leader I can say that not all opportunities in my life came from careful planning. Serendipity often presents itself when least expected, and being open to these moments can lead to innovative solutions and breakthroughs.
I feel it is often my curiosity that drives me, that helps me to stay a rebel at all times, brave enough to challenge the status quo.
In some weeks I have the opportunity to give a keynote on the importance of networking, as I can only confirm that building those diverse connections always helped me to increase the likelihood of serendipitous encounters.
Please do not be afraid to engage with people from different backgrounds, industries, and perspectives to broaden your horizons and spark new ideas. If you do not understand them, just ask them to guide you.
Every single leader is happy to share his or her experiences with others.
The only thing it takes is some positivity, a smile and stepping out of your daily comfortable role.
I am happy for the many encounters I had this week, new projects, new possible business partners, new sparkles for friendship.
As much as I like the music in the word Quintessential( title of my new book) I also like Serendipity…
