We all know the game of hide and seek, and I mean not just the childhood version, but the one we play with ourselves and the truth. The question is: would our world function the same way if we removed the comfort of half-truths? And more importantly, would we be able to cope with our own lives if we always confronted the full, unfiltered reality?
It’s a tough thought. But those who truly 'make it', however you define success, are often the ones who have had those difficult conversations within themselves. They’ve faced the rationalizations, the lies, and the half-truths they once told themselves to feel better in the moment. They’ve chosen honesty over illusion, even when it was painful.
If you want a better future for yourself, maybe it’s time to stop pretending. Time to stop using comfortable lies that soothe us now but sacrifice our future. Success, in whatever form, is often a by-product of happiness and doing what you genuinely enjoy. It almost never happens the other way around. That, I believe, is one of life’s greatest paradoxes.
So why do we expect great returns on our desires without significant investment? Why do we limit ourselves, telling stories about what we can or cannot do, what we deserve or don’t deserve? When we’ve been conditioned to believe in ceilings, whether on success, or on happiness, even on potential, it becomes really difficult to see beyond them.
But the truth is: we all can do more. We can reach further. We just need to stop playing hide and seek with reality. Whatever your definition of success may be, it will only become attainable when you’re honest with yourself.
So, are you ready to stop hiding?
