Dilemma

It happens to me from time to time that I have a hard time making the decision as it seems as if I am confronted with a dilemma. Those situations where the right choice isn’t clear, and each option has its own set of pros and cons. Whether it’s a professional challenge or a personal conflict, knowing how to navigate these tricky waters is crucial.
It works best if you know what your core values are. In my book “10 Quintessential Questions” I also dedicated a chapter to non-negotiables, if you combine those with values you might figure out those principles that are the most important to you. And I believe that these are to be treated with a certain agility, sometimes it might be more a focus on honesty, sometimes it is integrity, loyalty, or something totally different.
I always also try to think about the short-term and long-term consequences of each option.
Sometimes, the immediate benefits of a decision might be outweighed by negative long-term impacts.

So I consider how each choice aligns with my goals and future plans.

Recently I was asked for another meeting by some of my mentees because she is confronted with some of these dilemma’s and she wants my opinion.

I must say she has a good reflex as I agree that it is good to consult with trusted friends, family, or mentors. They can provide different perspectives and may highlight aspects you haven’t considered. Just be sure to seek advice from those who understand your values and context.

And sometimes, your gut feeling can guide you when logic and analysis fall short.
