Should we trust intuition?

When we think about decision-making, logic and data often come to mind. We analyze the facts, weigh the pros and cons, and seek out advice from others. But there’s another force at play that we sometimes overlook, and that is intuition.

I see intuition as an inner voice, the gut feeling that nudges us toward a choice, even when the facts may not fully align. It’s not something we can quantify or explain logically, but its importance in decision-making is undeniable if you ask me.

Why is intuition so powerful? Specialists tend to say that intuition comes from a deep well of subconscious knowledge and experience. It’s built over time from the countless patterns and experiences we’ve encountered, often without realizing it. While our conscious mind is busy analyzing, our subconscious is processing a broader spectrum of information. This is why, in moments of uncertainty, our gut feeling can guide us in ways that logic alone can’t.

But I also see a big challenge: in a world that is dominated by data and analysis, we often dismiss our intuition as irrational or unreliable, and if we do not do it ourselves others often remind us to stay wih the things we can explain and understand.
I sometimes wonder why we fear making a decision based on something that we can’t fully explain.

Even though we have many examples of successful people that would credit their intuition as a key factor in their decision-making process.

In my experience, intuition is particularly valuable when we’re faced with complex decisions or situations where there’s no clear right answer. In these moments, relying solely on data can leave us stuck, but our intuition can offer clarity. It’s important to listen to that inner voice, especially when it aligns with our values and long-term goals.

Of course, intuition shouldn’t replace careful thinking and analysis, but it’s a powerful complement to logical reasoning. By combining both, we can make more well-rounded decisions—decisions that not only make sense on paper but also feel right deep down.

So next time you face a tough decision, don’t just rely on the facts. Take a moment to check in with your intuition—it just might lead you to the best choice.
