The year in questions

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting not just on what happened, but on the questions that guided me through it all. In entrepreneurship, leadership, and even personal growth, I’ve learned time and again that the quality of the questions we ask determines the clarity of the answers we find.

In entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal growth, the power of asking the right questions is immense. The right question can spark an idea, reveal an opportunity, or help us confront what we’ve been avoiding. It can be uncomfortable, but discomfort often leads to insight.

For me, this year was full of questions that demanded more than surface-level answers. Questions like:

  • Am I moving toward what truly matters, or am I just keeping busy?
  • What impact am I making, and is it enough?
  • Am I staying curious, open, and ready to adapt when circumstances shift?

These questions came at different moments—during quiet reflection(not so often a quiet person :-)), while navigating decisions, or when conversations challenged me to think differently. They reminded me that progress, in any form, begins with curiosity. It’s not about having all the answers but daring to ask the right questions, even when the answers aren’t clear.

Asking questions isn’t just a tool for problem-solving; it’s a mindset. In business, it can push us to innovate, to see beyond the obvious, and to remain grounded in reality. In leadership, it fosters connection and invites others to share their perspectives. And in our personal lives, asking the right questions allows us to reconnect with our values and purpose.

So as we close out this year, I encourage you to pause and reflect:

  • What questions guided you this year?
  • Which ones brought you clarity or challenged you to change?
  • And most importantly, what questions will you carry with you into the year ahead?

The answers may surprise you, but one thing is certain: asking better questions will always move us closer to who we want to be and where we want to go.

Here’s to a year of curiosity, courage, and growth.
