Do we need to be prepared?

As the year draws to a close, one question has been lingering in my mind: Do we need to be prepared? And if so, how? The geopolitical challenges we face as a world today are more complex than ever. Conflicts are no longer distant—they affect economies, communities, and the way we live and work.

This uncertainty pushes us to ask: What does it mean to be prepared? As a mother, I feel the weight of ensuring my children grow up with resilience, hope, and the tools to navigate an unpredictable future.

As an entrepreneur, I face the challenge of leading a business that not only survives but thrives in a constantly shifting landscape.

So how do we prepare? I believe it starts with balance—balancing awareness with action. Being informed about the challenges we face is crucial, but fear and panic will never move us forward. We must remain grounded, focused on the small, intentional steps we can take each day, as parents, as leaders, and as individuals.

  • As a mother, it means teaching my children to be adaptable and empathetic. To show them that kindness and connection matter in a fragmented world and that solutions come from listening, understanding, and asking the right questions.
  • As an entrepreneur, it’s about staying agile—being ready for change, embracing innovation, and building a business that can weather uncertainty. Preparation doesn’t mean having all the answers; it means having the mindset and the courage to act when the time comes.

The world will not stop challenging us. Whether it’s in politics, economics, or business, the unexpected will always come. But perhaps being prepared isn’t about eliminating risk—it’s about being ready to face it with clarity, strength, and purpose.

As we close this year and step into the next, I’m carrying this thought with me: We cannot control the world, but we can prepare ourselves and those around us to rise to its challenges.

Here’s to a new year where we stay informed, stay prepared, and—most importantly—stay hopeful.
